The Churika Fair

This year’s traditional Churika Fair was held on July 29. The Sunday Mass was said in the “St. Kirik and Yolita” Chapel. Keeping up to the tradition the people from Smolyan and the villages of Stoykite, Shiroka Laka, Solishta, Gela and Stikal take the opportunity to meet friends and relatives on the fair. The fair’s biggest events were the musical performances of  the famous folklore song`s performer Valya Balkanska, the Konushen Orchestra and the Rhodope bagpipes. STC Perelik built and donated a  stage especially for the performes at the fair. The other organisers were the Smolyan Municipality, The Churika Union of Private Owners and the “Perelik” military unit.

Contributes

The last week of July this year was a disastrous for the Smolyan region. Over 7000 decares of forests were burned down by wildfires. The employees of STC Perelik volunteered at the very beginning in the fight with the raging fire. They took most active part in putting out the fires near the village of Turyan.
