



STC Perelik awarded with First class Investor Certificate
The president of the Investment agency Mr. Stoian Stalev granted a first class investment certificate to STC “Perelik”- AC, Smolyan, chaired by Mr. Kiril Asenov and the chief executive Mr. Lyudmil Karaulanov, announced the reporter from radio “Focus”. The certificate is confirmation of the readiness of the company to participate in the public procedure of the municipality Smolyan for election of investor for the megaproject Sport Tourist Center “Perelik” on whose territory STC “Perelik”- AD owns round 43 hectares forest fond and 20 hectares rural lands. The mayor of the municipality Smolyan Ms. Dora Yankova also attended the granting. The mayor Ms. Dora Yankova stated that the certificate will guarantee the participation of perspective competitors in the procedure and secures that there are investment interests and financial resources. This ensures that the building of the STC Perelik will start no later than this year. So far they are already bought six packages of auction documentation. The opening of the offers will take place on 5th of June at 11.00 a.m.

Election of Investor of “Perelik”
A public council will carry out the procedure for election of investors for the sport tourist center “Perelik” - announced the mayor of the city of Smolyan Ms. Dora Yankova today while introducing the members of the nominated municipal council, reported Dnes.bg. Mr.Andrei Delchev is the chairman of the coincil and among the members they are to be noted Mr.Anton Donchev and Ms. Venelina Gocheva. The mayor Ms. Dora Yankova stated that the election procedure for investor for the planned ski center in the Perelik ridge in the Rhodope mountain has already started. The territory- structural plan of the complex “Perelik” has been approbated by the previous municipal administration in the year 2001. Therefore there is an approbated valuation for the effect on the environment in the area. According to the dates, quoted in the valuation, the ski center will be located from 1300m up to 2191m above the sea level, in a region where the snow cover is preserved 45 days longer than in Pamporovo. According to the initially inscribed in the territory- structural plan parameters there will be built 22 ski tracks with a general length of 22km and with a capacity of 8000 skiers per hour, 3 gondolas, 4 passenger’s rope-ways and 5 ski drags. The dates from the territory- structural plan will be used as a base for the detailed plans, explain the municipals. The detailed plans will be assigned to the investors. The planed ski center will cover a land of 2191 hectares. The area includes public, communal and private properties, say the municipals. The mayor Ms. Dora Yankova expressed her opinion that the owners of the private land properties are not likely to be an obstacle for the building of the outfits and the infrastructure. Only three of the planned ski tracks are built on private lands and forests while the main land is part of the public fund, explains Ms. Yankova. The conditions for participation in the procedure for election of investors will be announced in the local and national media. The dead line for the participation’s documents to be bought is no later than the 31st of May. In the list with criteria for election it is stipulated as a condition for the intended investor that he has already obtained a relevant experience in similar projects with investments on it no less than 50 millions euros in the last ten years period.

First class Investor
The project “ Sport- tourist center Perelik” AD was declared a First Class Investor. The investment plan of the “Sport- tourist center Perelik”, financed by the shareholders, bulgarian and international financial institutions, provides for 255 millions Euro capital expenditures. The company intends to start the realization of the project in the autumn of year 2006. At the end of the third year there is expectation for the newly opened job positions to exceed 400 and it is expected that after its finalization the project will provide for approximately 3 370 jobs what responds to 1/3 of the unemployed people in the Smolyan district, commented Mr. Kiril Asenov, chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Sport- tourist center Perelik”.
“STC Perelik” is established especially for the project in 2004. The project is the first and most significant part of the regional project, carrying the same title, which is located on the territory of the Smolyan municipality and aims at the building of a complex system of mountain base and winter and summer tourism facilities, improving the infrastructure and the villages in the district of the city of Smolyan- Stoikite, Gela, Solishta, Stikal and Mugla. The resort will comprise ski tracks, artificial snow guns, 24 lifts, accomodation and footholds for the ski tracks, ski storage and rental facility, large parking, rest,- entertainment and- sport areas, hotels and vacation apartments. The complex will provide for excellent conditions for winter skiing as well as for summer recreation tourism ( trekking, mountain cycling, speleological tourism, golf, tennis, swimming). At a later stage it is foreseen the building of a congress centre and a golf course in order to be reduced as a factor the seasonality in the occupancy of the capacity of STC “Perelik”. Passenger rope-ways will be the prior kind of transport and near the department stations there will be built parkings. The tracks will be constructed in compliance with the latest trends for this sport and their common length will be in approximation of 55km in the time after the finalization of the project.

“Perelik” will be built on a territory of 13 000 hectares
According to the today approbated by the municipal council of Smolyan alterations of the territory- structural plan of the projected ski resort the sport tourist center “Perelik” will be situated on a territory of 13 000 hectares. Before the enlargement the center was planned on a territory of 2191 hectares. According to the actualized plan which was prepared in collaboration with the French consultants, the ski tracks will reach a length of 217km. The councilors voted solid on the alteration of the general structural plan of “Perelik”. Mr. Kiril Asenov, the chief executive of the elected as strategic investor company STC “Perelik” AD, made a statement to the municipal councilors that the realization of the project can start within a month. “Perelik” will be an all- seasons resort with the main accent on the ski season. The planned ski tracks could cover a territory of up to 650 hectares. The project is “situated” in the Perelik ridge of the Rhodope Mountains where the snow cover persists until May. Taking into consideration the prognoses for the coming warming cycle there will be provided 1500 artificial snow guns for about 60% of the ski tracks. The artificial snow guns will be water supplied artificial lakes which are supposed to be one of the tourist attractions in the summer season. There is an intention to put up the visiting tourists in the hotels in the surrounding villages and tourist centers. So it will be guaranteed the reservation of the hotels in Smolyan, Pamporovo, Chepelare, Stoikite, Gela. Some of the project aspects related to the all- seasons tourism are the golf village, the horse centre, the cultural tourism routes. As the representatives of the designers` section say ”Perelik” will be able to welcome 34 000 skiers what responds completely to the capacity of the planned hotel base of 40 000 beds.

STC “Perelik” gives support to the “Churika” fair
The traditional family meeting took place today with the support of the shareholders of STC “Perelik”. The other organizers are the municipality of Smolyan and the military unit- “Perelik”. On the newly built stage on the Perelik summit hundreds of guests watched the performance of Stefka Sabotinova and the local folklore musical formations. The festal mess was said in the chapel “St. Kirik and Yulita”. Keeping it up to the tradition the residents of the city of Smolyan and the villages – Stoikite, Gela, Shiroka laka, Solishta and Stikal are meeting regularly their relatives and friends on that fair.

The employees of “Perelik” put out a fire
Employees of STC “ Perelik” were among the volunteers who have responded to the appeal of the mayor of the municipality of Smolyan Ms. Dora Yankova to help in putting out the fire which blazed up in the forests, east from the village Turyan. A helicopter Mi- 24 was also taken into the action. The firemen from all the offices in the district of Smolyan were mobilized. They were supported by the related service offices from Plovdiv and Kardjali. In the late afternoon the fire was localized in an area of 30 hectares. The fire has spread at a distance less than 700m away from the village where 120 people are currently living. The fight with the fire calamity is continuing. At the end of the day Ms.Dora Yankova expressed a personal gratitude to the volunteers for the help they rendered.

The tourist exchange in Smolyan
In the next season STC Perelik will welcome its first guests. This was announced today by Mr. Kiril Asenov- the executive chief of the company that builds “Perelik’ during the presentation of the mega-project. “We aim at the building of the first five lifts, making accessible 27km of ski tracks until the winter of 2008.”- announced Mr. Asenov.
The tracks will be equiped with 350 artificial snow guns. The first stage includes also a parking for 700 cars, a ski storage and rental facility, ski school, shop for sport wares, restaurant.
“ We start selling the tourist service and our main target groups are the Europeans with an average and a high stand of living. “- noted Mr. Asenov. He promised that the prices will be flexible and not the same for all. The residents will be offered preferential prices. As an example he indicated that the price of the annual card for the children from Smolyan, up to 7 years old, will cost approximately 60lv , for the children up to 10years old- 100lv, 18 years old- 200lv. The old people from the region will be offered lower prices too. Except the exchange in Smolyan the project will be represented in London.

“The sport tourist center “Perelik” will be an unique complex, the only one of its kind on the Balkans. That will stimulate the economical growth in the Rhodope region.”- announced in an interview for radio “Focus” Ms. Ekaterina Dafovska, the Olympian champion from Nagano 1998 at the day of the presentation of the project. After she has withdrawn from the active sport career in March 2007 she took up a business activity. In reference to this she said that they are present all the conditions favourable for sport and tourism in the Rhodope because the nature is beautiful and makes it quite possible. She drew up a parallel with Austria and Germany where the resorts are connected with each other and have a very well built lift network that premises a wide variety of ski tracks. Furthermore the resident people in those countries are keeping their means of living and there are many new job positions offered. “We aim at improving the conditions and that is a reachable goal.”- said Ms. Dafovska. Our best biathlon competitor has won in her carrier Olympian and European awards as well two bronze medals from the world championships.
